About us
Le Poisson dans le Percolateur is a 3-star classified holiday rental in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, in Calvados, Normandy. It is an authentic fisherman's house, 50 metres from the fishing harbour, bookable directly with its owners. This page explains what the property is, how a stay is run, and how to get in touch before booking.
How a stay is run
The house is a privately owned holiday rental, not a hotel and not an agency listing. It is registered with the town hall of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain under Declaloc number 14515000189LZ and classified as a 3-star furnished tourist accommodation (meublé de tourisme) by the French authorities. The house belongs to Doriane C. and Ludovic C., who answer booking requests themselves, through the contact form on this site. Arrivals, key handover and housekeeping are handled on site by a local concierge service, so there is always someone nearby during your stay if something needs sorting out. The name comes from a line in David Lynch's Twin Peaks — there really is a fish in the percolator — and it sets the tone: the house is comfortable and properly equipped, but it is not a neutral rental. It has character, old woodwork, a great oak staircase and a decor that guests either love or remember.
The house
The building spreads over three floors, each with its own kitchen and bathroom. The whole house sleeps up to six guests across three sleeping areas. The top floor, Le Nid du Marin, is a bright loft under the roof with its own kitchenette and shower room, and can be rented on its own for two people. Everything a stay needs is provided: high-speed Wi-Fi, three fitted kitchens with dishwasher, oven and microwave, washing machine and dryer, travel cot and baby equipment, board games, books and local guidebooks. Bed linen and towels are included. The house does not accept pets and is entirely non-smoking.
Where we are
Port-en-Bessin-Huppain is the leading artisanal fishing port in Normandy and the capital of the Coquille Saint-Jacques scallop. The fish market is 50 metres away, and bakeries, restaurants and shops are all reachable on foot: you can leave the car parked for the whole stay. The house is a practical base for the D-Day Landing Beaches, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List: Omaha Beach is 8 km away, Arromanches 12 km, the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer 10 km, the Longues-sur-Mer battery 6 km. Bayeux, with its tapestry and cathedral, is 9 km away, and the Omaha Beach golf course 2 km. Paris is about three hours by road.
How booking works
You can book directly through the contact form on this site, which is always the best available rate because it carries no platform commission. The same stays are also listed on Airbnb, Booking.com and Abritel / Vrbo for guests who prefer those platforms. Rates run from around 110 € per night for the studio and from 200 € per night for the whole house, depending on the season. Check-in is from 5 pm and check-out at 10 am, both arranged with the concierge service and adjustable when the calendar allows. Availability shown on this site comes from a live synchronisation with the booking platforms, so the calendar reflects real bookings.
