The Village

Port En Bessin is a charming fishing village famous for its scallops.

Port-en-Bessin-Huppain is not just a postcard; it is a living, breathing fishing port, the foremost artisanal fishing port in Normandy. Famous for its 'Coquille Saint-Jacques' (scallops), the village vibrates to the rhythm of the tides and the return of the trawlers. Stroll along the quays, watch the lock gates open, and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of a town that has preserved its soul.

Port-en-Bessin has been a fishing port since the Middle Ages. It played a crucial role during the D-Day landings in 1944, serving as a terminal for the PLUTO oil pipeline system which fueled the Allied advance.
